Dark skies made the crowd of 60071 at Old Trafford a little nervous, but the rain held off. Alistair Alpin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jozo Klarica and Tommy Fredriksson. Stavarache of URZI seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by M. Sivori. One of many good crosses from J. Teräsvirta on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by P. Bøgebjerg, who scored for URZI. 1 - 2 Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 22 minutes, URZI did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, P. Bøgebjerg was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 1 - 3. 27 minutes in, Timisoara's D. Panaitescu received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. URZI were forced into a substitution as J. Teräsvirta couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing L. Miricã to come in off the bench. The home crowd cheered when, after 38 minutes, P. Bøgebjerg's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. P. Bøgebjerg was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by M. Ludolfinger, but the ball bounced off the post to safety. After 42 minutes, C. Cârnaru had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Timisoara with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. After 43 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed D. Couto to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 4. 1 - 4 was the halftime score. URZI had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Coming in from the right, Timisoara had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 62 minutes, but C. Feraru's attempt to finish was easily stopped. URZI claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

Timisoara's best player was D. Panaitescu. On the other hand, A. Nolibuat's play was disheartening. The most dominating URZI player was without a doubt P. Bøgebjerg. However, L. Miricã made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 4.
