(380782268)

07-07-2012 10.00
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 38460 to
Stadio di Vincere.
Robert Hernán-Gómez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Wolff Bräuer and
Emil Lúðvíksson.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Vincere.
Starters: Medar - Bešković, Pandolfi - Rivadulla, Wyco, Nohejl, Sarchiapelli, Oneroso - Fort, Commeyne, Gałązka.
Red Star started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Alfonso - Ţicu, Gujkás, Tomescu - Mata, Iorguş, Năstăsoiu, Dragne, Indrieş - Mihalcea, Bărbulescu.
With 13 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
J. Mata put the ball away for 0 - 1.
M. Mihalcea received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 14 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Red Star fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
After 16 minutes,
F. Pandolfi sent the corner kick right to
V. Wyco who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 2!
28 minutes into the game,
H. Oneroso came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
Halftime score was 1 - 2.
Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.
The Vincere coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy.
63 minutes into the match,
D. Ţicu came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
With 73 minutes played,
J. Mata of Red Star fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
R. Gujkás could have put his team up another goal 76 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
S. Năstăsoiu came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
K. Medar but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
M. Rivadulla wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat.
S. Fort of Vincere was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
After 83 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
O. Iorguş a chance to increase the lead for Red Star, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3.
Possession in this half belonged to Red Star, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.
The most dominating Vincere player was without a doubt
A. Gałązka.
A. Commeyne was a disappointment, however.
Red Star's top performer was clearly
L. Bărbulescu.
S. Năstăsoiu turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 3.
