(380783216)

30-06-2012 10.00
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 45704 at
Grave's Pit today.
Daniel Maillard was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sadri Kaya and
Klaus-Walter Würzburger.
Wallys started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Starters: Coscelli - Podolan, Maceković, Talo - Holt, Chaves, Sizemore, Lambru, Zabet - Ghirelli, Oñederra.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for CFR.
The following players took the field: Dobriţoiu - Ximénez, Farfuridi - Tãnase, Iffiú, Popa, Ciupitu, Soare - Dan, Iugan, Oproiu.
Always quick and a menace to his opponents,
S. Holt was very close to getting through after 2 minutes, but he could only put the ball into the keeper's arms.
The referee showed Wallys's
M. Ghirelli the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
B. Tãnase's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for CFR, he bravely continued in the match.
The visiting
B. Tãnase was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 26 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
M. Dan of CFR was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
S. Soare would have put CFR up another goal 28 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
S. Coscelli got a fingertip on
C. Iugan's shot from the left 36 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
With 38 minutes having been played, Wallys scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but
E. Oñederra was marked down as the scorer.
CFR took the lead after 40 minutes making the score 1 - 2.
M. Dan placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
It was 1 - 2 at the break.
Possession was split evenly between the teams.
Wallys's
M. Talo was shown a yellow card after 62 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The crowd chanted their encouragement as Wallys's
E. Oñederra came in from the right after 64 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 2 - 2.
CFR took the lead 66 minutes into the game, making the score 2 - 3 after some elegant movement down the middle.
K. Iffiú was the scorer.
M. Dan knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the CFR player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game.
After 78 minutes, CFR's
D. Ciupitu burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 2 - 4.
E. Oñederra almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.
After 81 minutes CFR tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately,
M. Oproiu's shot sailed wide after his break down the right.
CFR claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
Wallys's top performer was clearly
E. Oñederra.
S. Holt was a disappointment, however.
M. Oproiu performed admirably for CFR.
B. Tãnase turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 2 - 4.
