Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 32079 at
Grave's Pit today.
Sırrı Zümer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jonas zur Bonsen and
Søren Sletskov.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Wallys.
Starters: Coscelli - Talo, Maceković, Podolan - Zabet, Chaves, Lambru, Sizemore, Holt - Ghirelli, Oñederra.
Timisoarei started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Gabbrielli - Novick, ter Linde, Al-Dahhan - Popa, Uddlius, Sacharof, Schürmann, Wriezen - Eisses, Harðarson.
B. Sizemore was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by
A. Lambru, but the ball bounced off the post to safety.
23 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
B. Sacharof, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
Down the middle came
G. Eisses, making a fantastic play that nearly had Timisoarei take the lead after 39 minutes, but
S. Coscelli preserved the tie.
Wallys's
M. Podolan got himself booked for a foul.
Halftime score was 0 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Wallys, with 51 percent of the ball.
As the 55 minute mark approached, the Timisoarei coach decided it was time for a substitution.
J. Uddlius reluctantly made way for
G. Marian on the pitch.
At 59 minutes played,
M. Podolan came in from the right with the intention of giving Wallys the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
A. Al-Dahhan would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Á. Ladó entered the game for Timisoarei as the match clock showed 59 minutes.
A well placed corner kick from
M. Talo was followed by
B. Maceković's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Wallys, the score now 1 - 0.
With 72 minutes played,
E. Oñederra could have brought this one home for Wallys as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
B. Maceković squirmed through their central defence after 73 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Confident in their lead, Wallys's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Wallys scored another to make it 3 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
M. Ghirelli after 82 minutes.
Timisoarei claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
Wallys's best player was
E. Oñederra.
D. Zabet turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Timisoarei player was without a doubt
G. Harðarson.
G. Popa on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 0.
