The crowd of 27755 turning up at
El Vulcano today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Arnaud Petitot was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kent Homme and
Aert Bekenkamp.
All of
Bucureşti was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Colentina decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
Lineup: Mogoş - Coţovanu, Ciupitu, Hajdu, Vasilcin - Davidsson, Truşcă, Masini, Pintea, Dobre - Benveniste.
swats had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
Starters: Nasibullin - von Illberg, Marc, Dragu, Dincã, Balaci - Hoţescu, Riera, Seni - Matei, Cristea.
For their match strategy, swats had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Masini from Colentina a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 15 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
It was a bad day for the usually speedy
L. von Illberg. The mud seemed to slow him down.
Colentina made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
A. Ciupitu completely alone with keeper
V. Nasibullin, who made a spectacular block.
swats's
O. Cristea could have put the guests one up after 29 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
P. Mogoş was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose.
swats caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 31 minutes into the match.
D. Dragu was able to finish off the move - 0 - 1.
R. Vasilcin of Colentina received a yellow card after 37 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Always a threat,
M. Matei tore past his marker and placed the ball right at the feet of the waiting
O. Cristea who should have easily scored for swats, but the ball went wide.
J. Riera received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 41 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The swats fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
R. Vasilcin almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.
0 - 2 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Colentina, with 63 percent of the ball.
Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Colentina manager used a brief break in play after 46 minutes to give the players new directives.
60 minutes into the game,
M. Balaci finished off a swats left wing counterattack, making the score 0 - 3.
The crowd groaned when
N. Dobre, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for Colentina.
After 73 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by swats on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by
M. Matei to make it 0 - 4.
The coach of swats was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 75 minutes,
N. Sotir came on for
J. Riera.
Colentina reduced the lead to 1 - 4 with 76 minutes on the clock when
G. Benveniste got the best of a ball floated in from the left.
With 77 minutes played,
A. Hoţescu of swats fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
79 minutes in, Colentina appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
solid.
A. Masini was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
After 86 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Colentina found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
passable.
The home crowd were delighted when
E. Pintea scored with a header after an attack from the right, making the score 2 - 4. But did he use his hand? That'll be one for the pundits to talk about after the game, that's for sure!
Colentina's
A. Ciupitu was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 88 minutes.
Colentina claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
Most important Colentina player was
G. Benveniste.
However,
Á. Hajdu made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating swats player was without a doubt
O. Cristea.
L. von Illberg on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 2 - 4.
