previous 1/4 next 3/4  bigger 1 - 0 Sparta (380791525)

47056 spectators had come to ArenA BiggeR this cloudy day. Şemsi Özer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Heniek Poświatowski and Jean-Pierre Erhard. A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for bigger. Lineup: Rolland - Horváth, Binder, Cardeira, Pioli, Gys - Eilenfeldt, Segovia, Acheros, Szaranowicz - Delafontaine.

Sparta started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Starters: Zamfirescu - Băicoianu, Montaiuti, Bogoescu - Brunovskis, Găleată, Pereira, Ndugai - Sundet, Klosseck, Gašpierik.

bigger had a chance to take the lead after C. Cardeira's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 12 minutes. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Montaiuti from Sparta a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 21 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 25 minutes Sparta's C. Ndugai contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. A foul after 32 minutes resulted in a free kick. D. Segovia cannonballed it, giving the home team the lead 1 - 0. It was 1 - 0 at the break. bigger claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

J. Delafontaine left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 57 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. C. Zoletto was the replacement. With 74 minutes played, bigger's J. Szaranowicz almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Sparta needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 75 minutes C. Ndugai made way for E. Nemes. The bench was restless, and with 77 minutes passed Sparta's coach gave E. Bărbulescu the opportunity the player had been hoping for. D. Găleată reluctantly left the field. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Sparta's B. Klosseck was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 77 minutes. G. Nebot was given a chance to change things around. With 81 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after K. Brunovskis came through the middle, but his kick went wide. Possession in this half belonged to bigger, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

Most important bigger player was K. Horváth. On the other hand, F. Acheros's play was disheartening. Sparta's top performer was clearly R. Pereira. E. Nemes was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 0.
