Due to an all-day shower, 20807 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Ghencea. Korczyc was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. Steaua's E. Flatscher tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Steaua made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left Á. Lakos completely alone with keeper B. Neagoe, who made a spectacular block. O. Barou of Steaua was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. DM's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 37 minutes gone, but M. Korczyc's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. E. Flatscher of Steaua received a yellow card after 41 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. It was 0 - 0 at the break. Steaua had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.

54 minutes into the game, A. Ibn-Jamal finished off a DM left wing counterattack, making the score 0 - 1. The bench was restless, and with 60 minutes passed Steaua's coach gave V. Steinke the opportunity the player had been hoping for. R. Weisskopf reluctantly left the field. In a well-rehearsed move, Steaua delivered a free kick into the box which M. Attico, soaring majestically above the defence, rose to head home to make the score 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Steaua, with 70 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Steaua player was without a doubt V. Steinke. However, O. Barou made a disastrous appearance. DM's best player was A. Ibn-Jamal. M. Korczyc on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 1.
