Dark skies made the crowd of 15330 at Butovsky Vorskla a little nervous, but the rain held off. Marin Draganić was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nick Fohn and Kálmán Csiszár. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Vorskla. Starters: Mártir - Bumbescu, Sara-aho - Poloşan, Sora, Gallach, Grammatikopoulos, Luk'janets - Gustavsson, Kruse, Maye.

Sliders started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Zumista - Siegle, Dadkan, Negoescu, Marević - Aiello, Costanza, Lewis, Iivarinen - Muñiz, Rabaça.

The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 13 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from Z. Luk'janets, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. After 21 minutes, speedy P. Gustavsson dashed past his marker, making plenty of room for the second wave of attack. However, T. Kruse failed to score. Vorskla's Y. Grammatikopoulos increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 26 minutes. The players of Vorskla now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Sliders's M. Negoescu had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 33 minutes having been played. B. Meidericher was the replacement. A great save by keeper V. Zumista after 35 minutes kept the visitors in the game after M. Sara-aho struck from the left with a real cannonball. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Vorskla enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

77 minutes into the game, D. Bumbescu had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came F. Huchon. Vorskla's P. Gustavsson saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 81 minutes. Vorskla's J. Gallach struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 3 - 0 after 84 minutes. The score became 4 - 0 at 86 minutes into the game, when Vorskla were given a penalty which J. Gallach blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance! Vorskla claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

Vorskla's top performer was clearly I. Maye. L. Mártir on the other hand, had a terrible day. S. Muñiz performed admirably for Sliders. However, B. Meidericher made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 0.
