The crowd of 19436 turning up at
KaKa MaKa Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Bryan Acton was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Dariusz Kopczyk and
Benjamin Basson.
KaKa decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Zierold - Hietamäki, Stoian, Pastor - Leferink, Ménard, Lippolis, MacDonell, Almirall - Tavernier, Pessinen.
DraconianBlood started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Lineup: Staub - Roche, Dazzi, Berksal, Roncea - Schalks, Castellmir, Almeida, Courela - Mazaud, Pastor Merino.
Pressing was the tactic of the day for KaKa.
DraconianBlood were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
A. Pastor Merino stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving DraconianBlood the goal to make it 0 - 1.
A. Pastor Merino of DraconianBlood was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit
A. Pastor Merino just fine.
A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
Ó. Castellmir after 38 minutes, and prevented DraconianBlood from going up another goal.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
A. Ménard should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting DraconianBlood a goal with 39 minutes of the match played.
KaKa pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times.
The rain made it hard for players like
Ó. Castellmir to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
KaKa had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
KaKa's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle.
KaKa's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends.
It was obvious that DraconianBlood had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
With 85 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
A. Pastor Merino of DraconianBlood to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by KaKa, with 53 percent of the ball.
Most important KaKa player was
D. Pastor.
Q. Almirall was a disappointment, however.
DraconianBlood's top performer was clearly
D. Dazzi.
N. Mazaud on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 2.
