previous 2/10 next 4/10  Nebuchadnezzar 2 - 3 Vaslui (380916345)

9013 fans braved the pouring rain at Trinity Arena. Alain Guéraud was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jelle Klijbroek and Malte Olsson. Nebuchadnezzar started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Rosza - Jurcuţ, Mezdrea, Sarıcabay, Apopei - Grigorie, Ştefănoiu, Tudor, Enescu - Gheorghiţă, Ţiriac.

Vaslui decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. Starters: Puică - Anghel, Aslan, Nedelcu, Pribojszki - Patriche, Drăghiciu, Babalâc, Simionescu - Baroga, Ticşă.

After some beautiful movement down the left wing, R. Jurcuţ scored for Nebuchadnezzar putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 8 minutes. Nebuchadnezzar's A. Enescu was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - F. Grigorie managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 2 - 0 after 14 minutes. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Nebuchadnezzar lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. The visitors got one back when M. Babalâc finished off a pass from the left and scored after 20 minutes. 2 - 1 was the score. The visitors' M. Patriche was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 2 - 2 after 21 minutes. M. Patriche spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch. Slack defending gave Nebuchadnezzar a chance to take the lead with 35 minutes played, but A. Enescu's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. It was 2 - 2 at the break. Vaslui enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

A. Enescu was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. Nebuchadnezzar were very close to putting themselves one up after 65 minutes as C. Apopei got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. The terraces were silenced after 67 minutes when Vaslui's B. Baroga put the guests ahead 2 - 3, following an attack on the right. After 77 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Vaslui was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. Vaslui had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.

A. Enescu performed admirably for Nebuchadnezzar. However, İ. Sarıcabay made a disastrous appearance. Most important Vaslui player was D. Ticşă. M. Patriche turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 3.
