Ac.SeVerin 0 - 6 Lyons (380924370)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 7423 to Ac.SeVerin Arena. Luca Ciobanu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Milan Gaćeša and Miiro Kuivanen. Ac.SeVerin tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Starters: Mocodean - Lenţa, Norocel, Toman, Boroştean - Jurju, Păduraru, Maxa, Valea - Benyó, Asandei.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Lyons. They fielded: Duliga - Georgiu, Cauc, Costin, Iuret - Mitică, Cioroianu, Pane, Macovei - Puşcoiu, Dumitrescu.

Lyons demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. Ac.SeVerin's M. Jurju had a good first touch on the flank, but was crowded and, after a change of plan, sent the ball to P. Asandei who somehow managed to curl the ball wide. Lyons's goal to make the score 0 - 1 came via a questionable penalty, but A. Cioroianu struck it home without a second thought. C. Puşcoiu of Lyons was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish M. Toman, which resulted in a goal making the score 0 - 2. The visitors' C. Macovei took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 29 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Lyons. After 33 minutes Lyons's Ş. Pane contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. In a rapid move 37 minutes into the match, C. Puşcoiu of Lyons lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked C. Dumitrescu who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 4. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! One of many good crosses from C. Macovei on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by C. Mitică, who scored for Lyons. 0 - 5 By now, the players in Lyons felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. After 41 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed A. Cioroianu to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 6. 0 - 6 was the halftime score. Lyons claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.

It wasn't a good day at all for F. Costin. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. Ac.SeVerin's L. Benyó left the field after 65 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was C. Ilie. A. Lenţa was the new captain of Ac.SeVerin - handed the armband by the departing player. After 77 minutes, Lyons were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. Ş. Pane did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. The referee showed Lyons's D. Georgiu the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Unfortunately for Ac.SeVerin, A. Boroştean was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. O. Cociş replaced him. Lyons had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

Ac.SeVerin's best player was C. Ilie. P. Asandei was a disappointment, however. Lyons's top performer was clearly C. Puşcoiu. M. Duliga on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 6.
