F.R.D. 3 - 4 Tg.-Mures (381000491)

Clouds darkened the skies at F.R.D. Arena as 10579 spectators turned up for the match. Gabriel Vanderhaeghen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alfonz Makay and Kas De Lie. F.R.D. started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Starters: Dascălu - Apolozan, Dascălu, Biţan, Albişoru - Ciumău, Pantilie, Mornea, Starker - Ţinca, Mateciuc.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Tg.-Mures. The following players had been chosen: Chipăilă - Husti, Limban, Jecu, Gliguţă - Duţescu, Moţ, Blaj, Licu - Bujor, Ţigănilă.

There was concern in the stands when, at the 31 minute mark, F.R.D.'s L. Ciumău hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. 37 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but R. Husti, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. Ş. Albişoru was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from F.R.D.'s defence 38 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 1 - 0. The visiting team's D. Gliguţă was able to score the 1 - 1 equaliser with a header 42 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. Tg.-Mures's D. Gliguţă gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 44 minutes with a superb strike from the right. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Tg.-Mures had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

The crowd roared in delight as D. Mornea finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for F.R.D. 58 minutes into the match. 2 - 2. Tg.-Mures took the lead after R. Husti curved a free kick into the net. 2 - 3 Had it not been for one of the home defenders, T. Blaj would have put Tg.-Mures up another goal 73 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. A. Mateciuc knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 3 - 3 after 74 minutes. V. Jecu behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 80 minutes as he gave the ball away to F. Ţinca. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Tg.-Mures's goal to make the score 3 - 4 came via a questionable penalty, but R. Husti struck it home without a second thought. Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.

Most important F.R.D. player was F. Ţinca. However, V. Dascălu made a disastrous appearance. C. Ţigănilă performed admirably for Tg.-Mures. On the other hand, F. Chipăilă's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 4.
