Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 8617 at Star Arena today. Pedro Olano was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marco Aurélio Caveirinha and Ad van Harsselaar. Star decided to use a 5-3-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Ribau - Carrera, Rüdiger, Melitz, Gumiński, Tilvic - Ion, Dupuis, Daniel - Angheloni, Lomotă.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Violatorii. The following players took the field: Chira - Zapcea, Mihăiescu, Pruncu, Bercaru - Mihăilă, Constantin, Preda, Hodorogea - Viţu, Săndoi.

The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to V. Daniel, but the Star player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! E. Preda received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 12 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. 17 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as C. Angheloni broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Star. By now, the players in Star felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Star scored another to make it 3 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for C. Angheloni after 23 minutes. Cheers filled the stadium as E. Lomotă broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to Star. 4 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Star, with 76 percent of the ball.

A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Star to 5 - 0 as E. Lomotă finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. With 73 minutes played, Star put themselves up 6 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to M. Ion, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Star put in a good effort on the right, but E. Lomotă saw his volley fly wide of the mark 81 minutes into the game. Star enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 78 percent of possession.

Most important Star player was R. Tilvic. However, J. Ribau made a disastrous appearance. A. Constantin performed admirably for Violatorii. R. Chira on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 6 - 0.
