The 33868 spectators at Noy Camp Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Morten Østnes was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mateo Lugović and Gaetano Monaci. Today, Shalke's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. Roller were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. 30 minutes into the game, R. Strauss was a hair's breadth away from giving Roller the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by A. Ludwig saved the home team that time. A well placed corner kick from J. Krysta was followed by A. Senosiaín's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Roller, the score now 0 - 1. Due to some great work on the right wing Shalke's V. Deloche was able to even the score after 39 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. V. Deloche gave Shalke the lead with a beautiful free kick after 40 minutes. 2 - 1! The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Roller claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

It was obvious that Roller had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Shalke to 3 - 1 as V. Deloche finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for V. Deloche. By now, the players in Shalke felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. The heat made it a terrible day for V. Deloche, who seemed unable to keep up with the other players. The bench was restless, and with 62 minutes passed Roller's coach gave C. Hofer the opportunity the player had been hoping for. R. Strauss reluctantly left the field. C. Hofer became the new Roller captain. With 62 minutes played, J. Krysta of Roller fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Players in Roller heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. Roller certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but P. Armada just wasn't able to finish. Shalke's L. Sauvageot made use of his speed to get free of the defence, but he still couldn't get a shot off 67 minutes into the match. Possession in this half belonged to Roller, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

Shalke's top performer was clearly F. Maiwald. L. Sauvageot on the other hand, had a terrible day. Roller's best player was J. Machowski. S. Menchell turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
