previous 1/10 next 3/10  BOOKERS 10 - 0 Epidavros (381295146)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and PROPOTZIDIKO saw a crowd turnout of 37782. Alejandro Cruz Calderón was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ivan Samolenkov and Anatoly Vodopyanov. BOOKERS started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Tsitouras - Zintanopoulos, Siomos, Gkekas, Lavas, Dimokas - Papalakis, Sfaliaridis, Malliopoulos - Doropoulos, Mpikas.

Epidavros decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Vikos - Tzikas, Kontos, Savvalas, Platis - Roustemis, Gkekos, Chosadas, Ravousis - Daravanis, Mpanis.

P. Doropoulos's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 6 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to T. Mpikas who knocked it in for BOOKERS. 1 - 0! BOOKERS solidified their lead at the 11 minute mark, as N. Lavas dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0. The players of BOOKERS now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Cheers filled the stadium as P. Doropoulos broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to BOOKERS. Against a lesser team, BOOKERS could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 14 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. BOOKERS's P. Zintanopoulos increased the lead to 4 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 16 minutes. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, K. Siomos got himself booked. The manager of BOOKERS was not happy. After 23 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and K. Siomos gave the BOOKERS supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 0. 27 minutes into the game, Epidavros seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. 28 minutes into the game, Epidavros had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. The BOOKERS players could smell victory in the air. M. Gkekas wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for M. Koutsis after 30 minutes. 5 - 0 was the halftime score. BOOKERS enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 90 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped Epidavros get back to a passable organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. BOOKERS's T. Malliopoulos had an excellent opportunity after 58 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! The coach of BOOKERS was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 80 minutes, T. Arkoumaneas came on for T. Mpikas. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave N. Lavas from BOOKERS a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 84 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! In a fantastic display of determination, Epidavros's Y. Tzikas forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by M. Koutsis. At last, BOOKERS's N. Lavas was able to backheel the ball in. 6 - 0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. S. Sfaliaridis squirmed through their central defence after 87 minutes, increasing the lead to 7 - 0. After 88 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Epidavros found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. The home side's M. Papalakis came close to extending the lead 88 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but S. Vikos managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. The corner kick from P. Doropoulos was powerfully met by the head of S. Sfaliaridis to make the score 8 - 0. 89 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as K. Siomos broke through, making the score 9 - 0 for BOOKERS. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in BOOKERS's P. Doropoulos increasing the lead to 10 - 0. T. Gkekos of Epidavros was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Possession in this half belonged to BOOKERS, who controlled the ball 91 percent of the time.

BOOKERS's top performer was clearly P. Doropoulos. However, N. Lavas made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Epidavros player was without a doubt A. Roustemis. On the other hand, V. Ravousis's play was disheartening. The match ends 10 - 0.
