25-08-2012 11.30
Due to an all-day shower, 54837 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
Jojin Arena.
Đorđe Ramić was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
George Schwarz and
Sebastián Lamaison.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Jojini.
They fielded: Tlołka - Montero, Voß, Pagnozzi - Jansenberger, Hoffman, Klimiček, Jelinek, Padula - Castela, Bischofs.
Xaverov started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Tatara - Gonser, Abramczuk, Olening, Venakis - Alderman, Whitaker, Bodola, Damon - Prisciandaro, Husák.
Xaverov clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
The terraces were silenced after 5 minutes when Xaverov's
M. Abramczuk put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right.
E. Prisciandaro was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace.
16 minutes into the game,
D. Castela came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
Thighs bulging,
A. Venakis charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain.
With 43 minutes played, Xaverov put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
B. Damon.
Jojini had to make a substitution after 43 minutes.
R. Jansenberger limped off the field and was replaced by
A. Ruelland.
Z. Husák increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3.
By now, the players in Xaverov felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Z. Tlołka got a fingertip on
C. Alderman's shot from the left 44 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
0 - 3 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Jojini, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.
A counterattack by Xaverov after 54 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
A. Venakis, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off.
55 minutes into the game Jojini broke through on the left wing and
D. Jelinek managed to reduce the lead to 1 - 3.
Xaverov increased their lead after 56 minutes when
M. Olening broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay.
C. Alderman did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
Jojini's
D. Padula got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 2 - 4.
Jojini had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
The most dominating Jojini player was without a doubt
M. Bischofs.
On the other hand,
Y. Montero's play was disheartening.
Z. Husák performed admirably for Xaverov.
However,
M. Olening made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 4.
