Grejdy 1 - 3 Gals
(381371519)

28-07-2012 11.30
A scorching day at
FC Grejdy Arena, where 62438 spectators were in place for today's match.
András Török was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Hans Palm and
Franz Walder.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Jihomoravský kraj derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Grejdy had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
They fielded: Spânu - Pauk, Roggenstieg - Abbati, Podlipský, Otáhal, Jáně, Lukács - Ceccotti, Kincl, Eret.
Gals tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Lineup: Michalko - Štefek, Glogar, Rajz, Mana - Kuttor, Kuijer, Búlgariev, Linker - Grepl, Sredojević.
Gals were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
I. Sredojević was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 2 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
0 - 1 was the score with 7 minutes played, after
A. Grepl cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Gals.
With 7 minutes played, the Grejdy coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
P. Bražina came on,
D. Kincl had to leave the fray.
After 7 minutes, Grejdy switched
M. Lukács with
M. Borůvka, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
I. Sredojević.
A quick counter attack by Gals forced the opponent's defender to give away a freekick.
O. Glogar was allowed to take it quickly by the referee, much to the dismay of the goalkeeper who wasn't prepared. 0 - 2!
The home crowd were delighted when
I. Ceccotti scored with a header after an attack from the right, making the score 1 - 2. But did he use his hand? That'll be one for the pundits to talk about after the game, that's for sure!
A. Rudolf was called on to replace Grejdy's
L. Spânu after 37 minutes following a nasty collision.
1 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Grejdy had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
Grejdy's
M. Eret made an attempt at equalising 47 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound.
The counterattack by Gals resulted in a free kick that
O. Glogar bent under the crossbar - 1 - 3!
As
V. Otáhal had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Grejdy player a red card without batting an eyelid.
P. Bražina really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by
J. Pauk after a corner.
Gals's
Z. Linker made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 78 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
The crowd groaned when
I. Ceccotti, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for Grejdy.
Grejdy enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.
M. Borůvka performed admirably for Grejdy.
A. Rudolf was a disappointment, however.
Gals's top performer was clearly
A. Mana.
On the other hand,
G. Kuttor's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 3.
