The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 52659 had shown up at Octavia Lusido Arena for the match. It was obvious that the tactic of the day for Ustecan was to go for long shots, but in order to score they have to do better than the shooting attempt from A. Kubásek after 22 minutes, which was a total failure. Down the middle came B. Sázavský, making a fantastic play that nearly had Ustecan take the lead after 32 minutes, but Y. Shomron preserved the tie. FK Spalu's J. Mestre refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 39 minutes. FK Spalu had a good opportunity to take the lead as T. Buškus came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of H. Lumijärvi. It was 0 - 0 at the break. Ustecan enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

Some beautiful play by Ustecan set up G. Grym in a good shooting position after 64 minutes, but Y. Shomron made a great save on the low hard shot. As the 65 minute mark approached, the Ustecan coach decided it was time for a substitution. G. Grym reluctantly made way for R. Hnilička on the pitch. After 67 minutes Ustecan's B. Jůzl contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. With 71 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, M. Efler needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. A well placed corner kick from A. Bratseth was followed by J. Mestre's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for FK Spalu, the score now 1 - 0. The bench was restless, and with 75 minutes passed Ustecan's coach gave M. Višňovský the opportunity the player had been hoping for. B. Sázavský reluctantly left the field. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 78 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when M. Višňovský tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Ustecan, with 58 percent of the ball.

T. Buškus performed admirably for FK Spalu. However, A. Bratseth made a disastrous appearance. Most important Ustecan player was E. Mačo. R. Hnilička was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 0.
