21-07-2012 11.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 26900 at
Pod Svatohorskou bání a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Anders Jonassen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Franc Penca and
Davide Aurigemma.
Příbram decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Pozzi - Šerý, Machač, Feri - Hanzelka, Lindby, Regner, Tyc, Banićević - Pescatori, Alegre.
Chelsea tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
They fielded: Maule - Hlaváček, Švagr - Lauda, Josef, Bíba, Vrzák, Petřík - Kolčava, Cibulka, Gärtner.
After 6 minutes of play,
P. Banićević gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
An equalising goal seemed certain after 26 minutes when
B. Vrzák attacked down the left wing, but
E. Pozzi just managed to make a save to keep the ball out of the net.
32 minutes into the game, Chelsea seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
passable level of organisation.
M. Drda was called on to replace Příbram's
V. Lindby after 34 minutes following a nasty collision.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
J. Regner squirmed through their central defence after 38 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Cheers filled the stadium as
P. Banićević broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Příbram.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0.
Possession in this half belonged to Příbram, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
The Chelsea players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
solid organisation when the game started again.
M. Drda could have increased the lead after 47 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
49 minutes into the game, Chelsea seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
weak.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
F. Feri should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Chelsea a goal with 55 minutes of the match played.
Příbram put themselves up 4 - 0 when
B. Alegre broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
By now, the players in Příbram felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Příbram's
B. Pescatori had an excellent opportunity after 66 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
Příbram managed to extend their lead to 5 - 0 when
B. Pescatori cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
With 72 minutes played, Příbram put themselves up 6 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
B. Pescatori, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Příbram had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
Příbram's best player was
B. Pescatori.
O. Šerý was a disappointment, however.
Chelsea's top performer was clearly
L. Gärtner.
On the other hand,
L. Maule's play was disheartening.
The match ends 6 - 0.
