Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 25625 to
Joe Luis Arena.
Sándor Mundi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Fredrik ''Poning'' Skogstedt and
György Sándor.
Pribovce had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Paloposki - Ballu, Quintas, Janssens - Baldazzi, Luzi, Donckers, Valbaler, Pinilla - Válóczi, Mocca.
Muhammad tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
The following players took the field: Delgado - Kojić, Gefen - Zámečník, Satzenhofen, Rinnooy Kan, Vivona, Belkin - Stillhard, Horáček, Vítek.
Č. Horáček was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Muhammad's
H. Satzenhofen managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 0 - 1
After 5 minutes of play,
T. Valbaler evened things up for Pribovce with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1.
Pribovce were very close to putting themselves one up after 6 minutes as
R. Mocca got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
P. Donckers gave Pribovce the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1
L. Vivona sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
G. Gefen after 23 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 2.
The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 27 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors. Pribovce fans erupted in celebration as
R. Mocca rifled the ball into the the top corner. 3 - 2!
Halftime score was 3 - 2.
Pribovce claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Pribovce scored another to make it 4 - 2 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
R. Mocca after 51 minutes.
By now, the players in Pribovce felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Against a lesser team, Pribovce could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 61 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save.
Pribovce solidified their lead at the 73 minute mark, as
R. Quintas dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 2.
Coming in on the left,
J. Vítek did everything right to get a goal for Muhammad after 74 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper.
Pribovce enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.
Pribovce's top performer was clearly
P. Donckers.
A. Janssens on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Muhammad player was
P. Stillhard.
D. Rinnooy Kan was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 5 - 2.
