previous 8/10 next 10/10  Jižani 1 - 2 slavia (381394290)

33715 fans braved the pouring rain at FK Jižanská Arena. Benjamin Hagen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marc-Alexander Ruderblatt and Augustin Štefan. A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Jižani. Lineup: Węgliński - Lenske, Tichon, Grüntzig, Mettraux - Mannu, Escher, Riefers, Filipowski, van Min - Humpál.

slavia had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. Starters: Ribiscini - Otacı, Berner, Olkowicz, Tricot, Nilsen - Petroš, Obritzberger, Sallustio, Beiern - Huser.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of slavia. O. Nilsen was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. The most controversial moment of the game was likely the penalty given after 25 minutes. slavia's J. Huser kept his concentration, despite the upset crowd, and calmly put the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1. 29 minutes in, Jižani's P. Filipowski received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 31 minutes, the defensive line of slavia created a counterattack through the middle that gave M. Beiern a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. P. Filipowski charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for Jižani, but the shot went well wide of the goal. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Jižani claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

Jižani's U. Mettraux made a successful breakthrough on the left after 69 minutes and should have levelled the score, but instead he clipped it over the bar. Q. Berner could have put his team up another goal 76 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. Due to some great work on the right wing Jižani's P. Humpál was able to even the score after 78 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. J. Tricot was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! slavia played a good counterattacking move down the left 88 minutes into the match, with J. Huser finishing well for 1 - 2. Jižani had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

The most dominating Jižani player was without a doubt P. Humpál. J. Węgliński was a disappointment, however. J. Huser performed admirably for slavia. On the other hand, M. Olkowicz's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 2.
