Madrid 2 - 0 Broumov
(381401737)

25-08-2012 11.30
Clear skies welcomed the 42571 spectators who had made their way to
Santiago Bernabeu.
Joaquim Maria Puig was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Maxime Drogt and
Niels Hutsebaut.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
Hlavní město Praha derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
Madrid started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
They fielded: Haller - Robert, Loginov, De Ruyver, Degrotes - Chrt, Moulík, Alonso, Jung - Heinonen, Gamain.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Broumov.
The following players took the field: Lakatoš - Åhell, Sedling, Zahrádka, Tahiri - Avidano, Syväntö, Dejan, Schlesien - Korošak, Platil.
Today, Broumov's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
At 15 minutes played,
A. Moulík came in from the right with the intention of giving Madrid the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
E. Raganato was called on to replace Madrid's
A. Moulík after 37 minutes following a nasty collision.
It was obvious that Broumov had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
The guests almost went up by a goal after 38 minutes when
G. Sedling came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
H. Chrt, but the Madrid player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
D. Robert should probably have put his team up another goal after 42 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
J. Lakatoš kept the visitors in the game.
Madrid's
T. Alonso was shown a yellow card after 43 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Broumov had a chance to level the score as
T. Korošak suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar.
1 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Madrid enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
Madrid's
H. Chrt swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
The home side's
T. Alonso came close to extending the lead 49 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
J. Lakatoš managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
With 58 minutes played, Madrid's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
C. Degrotes he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 2 - 0.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
E. Tahiri from Broumov a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 66 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
75 minutes in, Broumov's
C. Dejan received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Madrid claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
Most important Madrid player was
H. Heinonen.
However,
H. Chrt made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Broumov player was without a doubt
T. Korošak.
E. Tahiri was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 0.
