Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Čáslavice "B" Arena saw a crowd turnout of 34175.
Ralph Benoit was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Gilbert Seitz and
Robin Wäffler.
Čáslavice tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Fikr - Smola, Slavchev, Jagła - Volais, Rougier, Bittrich, Çavdar, Bačina - Parkin, Ponticelli.
Moriak started off with a 5-3-2 lineup.
Lineup: Svensson - Østreng, Spratek, Štěpánek, List, De Los Santos - Mengov, Zylevich, Kříha - Eilinger, Kwon.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Čáslavice.
For their match strategy, Moriak had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
M. Mengov finished off the counterattack of Moriak from the left rather easily, making the score 0 - 1.
Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Čáslavice, but
P. Ponticelli's shot went over the bar.
Moriak played a good counterattacking move down the left 5 minutes into the match, with
L. Kříha finishing well for 0 - 2.
By now, the players in Moriak felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
P. De Los Santos showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Moriak after 23 minutes to make the score 0 - 3.
Clever play that showed his experience gave
E. Volais a good chance to score, but the shot hit the crossbar.
The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as
R. Slavchev tried lifting the ball over keeper
T. Svensson. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar.
The visitors'
L. Kříha took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 38 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Moriak.
G. Parkin challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 39 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4.
Čáslavice had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
With 59 minutes played, Čáslavice's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
P. Ponticelli he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 4.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
A. Eilinger would have put Moriak up another goal 62 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
A. Eilinger got himself booked. The manager of Moriak was not happy.
P. Ponticelli did everything he could to get one back for his Čáslavice, but keeper
T. Svensson denied him with a spectacular block.
Moriak showed their counterattack skill 82 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with
P. De Los Santos scoring uncontested for 1 - 5.
Čáslavice claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.
Most important Čáslavice player was
P. Ponticelli.
However,
J. Fikr made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Moriak player was without a doubt
A. Eilinger.
M. Štěpánek turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 5.
