The 25000 fans in attendance at
Big Real Sedlec Arena were roasting in the hot sun.
Dino Cattaneo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Szymon Mulak and
Dimosthenis Vazakos.
A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Sedlec.
The following players took the field: Šmucr - Gavardi, Couillaud, Busiello, Lux - Glutz, Askenlius, Štětina, Meylemans, Tolengo - Sejk.
Chomutov decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
Starters: Muci - Påske, Gayraud - Sánchez Peralta, Cascasona, Poláček, Kucheruk, O'Farrell - Lindgaard, Koskelin, Gelb.
It was an obvious ambition of Sedlec to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
J. Gelb hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Chomutov's
T. Koskelin an easy chance to knock it in for 0 - 1.
After 8 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
J. Lindgaard a chance to increase the lead for Chomutov, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2.
J. Lindgaard could have added one to the visitors' lead if his free kick had gone just a little lower.
After 24 minutes, Chomutov were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
P. Kucheruk did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
28 minutes in, Sedlec's
F. Lux received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Halftime score was 0 - 2.
Chomutov had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.
The bench was restless, and with 50 minutes passed Sedlec's coach gave
G. Esposito the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
L. Sejk reluctantly left the field.
Sedlec's
R. Gavardi got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 1 - 2.
T. Koskelin enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again.
Chomutov increased their lead after 62 minutes when
T. Koskelin broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay.
Confident in their lead, Chomutov's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Sedlec's
B. Askenlius was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 65 minutes.
A. Aneiros was given a chance to change things around.
The intense heat forced
Z. Poláček into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others.
Chomutov's
J. Gelb made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 79 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
At 83 minutes into the game, Sedlec's
D. Couillaud deftly knocked the ball home after an impressive run down the left, reducing the visitors' lead to 2 - 3.
The heat made it a terrible day for
D. Sánchez Peralta, who seemed unable to keep up with the other players.
Possession in this half belonged to Sedlec, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
Most important Sedlec player was
P. Štětina.
A. Šmucr turned in a dismal performance, however.
T. Koskelin performed admirably for Chomutov.
On the other hand,
R. Muci's play was disheartening.
The match ends 2 - 3.
