23-06-2012 11.45
The 11618 fans in attendance at
Taure Stadions were roasting in the hot sun.
Simon Beckers was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Roar Wegner Larsen and
Edouard Sones.
Taure had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Eindriks - Karlaps, Rohde, Zych, Zilvesters - Briksnis, Klabinieks, Rukmans, Lukša - Niedrups, Smorkalov.
Dižarāji decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Korzāns - Spīders, Kiršpilnieks, Voinarovskiy, Meņģelis - Pļaviņš, Kanarskis, Parfianovich, Pauls - Kasperowicz, Geyman.
Taure's
A. Karlaps tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
The most controversial moment of the game was likely the penalty given after 15 minutes. Dižarāji's
A. Spīders kept his concentration, despite the upset crowd, and calmly put the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1.
It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why
A. Klabinieks found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork.
Taure tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play.
39 minutes into the game,
A. Klabinieks came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Taure, who controlled the ball 75 percent of the time.
Taure equalised after 49 minutes after a brilliantly placed penalty by
J. Zilvesters.
Taure's
S. Rohde refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 65 minutes.
At 76 minutes played,
M. Smorkalov came in from the right with the intention of giving Taure the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
After 78 minutes of play,
J. Zilvesters gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
Dižarāji's
O. Voinarovskiy was shown a yellow card after 79 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Unfortunately for Taure,
V. Niedrups was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
R. Pīgoznis replaced him.
Taure solidified their lead at the 85 minute mark, as
A. Rukmans dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 1.
Cheers filled the stadium as
M. Smorkalov broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 1 to Taure.
Taure enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 78 percent of possession.
Most important Taure player was
N. Briksnis.
J. Zych turned in a dismal performance, however.
Dižarāji's top performer was clearly
Ž. Meņģelis.
However,
K. Korzāns made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 4 - 1.
