The 36284 spectators at ežu midzenis Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Jack Charbonnier was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marco Bahler and Giancarlo Bedarida. niknie had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Via - Furrer, Elferink, Motiekaitis, Panigo - Karampatsos, Dziļums, Szendrei, Dellitsch - Tibilov, Moltedo.

"Cerība" started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Sedblom - Durazzo, Kibalnik, Takaev - Sabella, Sylla, Lauriks, Çakır, Lopes Jorge - Brūvulis, Bolers.

niknie seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. For their match strategy, "Cerība" had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. With 17 minutes played G. Szendrei almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. niknie's F. Dellitsch was shown a yellow card after 28 minutes for slicing down an opponent. niknie took the lead after 33 minutes as a result of Y. Karampatsos's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. K. Çakır of "Cerība" received a yellow card after 34 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of niknie to 2 - 0 as D. Moltedo finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. K. Çakır behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 38 minutes as he gave the ball away to A. Dziļums. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. niknie solidified their lead at the 39 minute mark, as F. Dellitsch dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0. Halftime score was 3 - 0. niknie enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.

Cheers filled the stadium as D. Tibilov broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to niknie. Confident in their lead, niknie's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The bench was restless, and with 55 minutes passed "Cerība"'s coach gave F. Pische the opportunity the player had been hoping for. A. Kibalnik reluctantly left the field. After 60 minutes, "Cerība" switched S. Sabella with A. Balodis, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. niknie managed to extend their lead to 5 - 0 when D. Moltedo cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, "Cerība"'s D. Durazzo was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 75 minutes. C. Voinescu was given a chance to change things around. G. Furrer wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. G. Furrer squirmed through their central defence after 83 minutes, increasing the lead to 6 - 0. After 86 minutes, D. Tibilov put niknie ahead 7 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by niknie, with 67 percent of the ball.

niknie's top performer was clearly D. Moltedo. G. Furrer turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating "Cerība" player was without a doubt N. Bolers. On the other hand, F. Pische's play was disheartening. The match ends 7 - 0.
