Aizkraukle solidified their lead at the 42 minute mark, as J. Koszołko dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0. The referee showed Zhiperi's F. Koposov the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Aizkraukle, who controlled the ball 77 percent of the time.

Against a lesser team, Aizkraukle could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 47 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Aizkraukle scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for M. Trušulis after 77 minutes. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave A. Brenguls from Aizkraukle a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 78 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! M. Trušulis unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Zhiperi's S. Krūze had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 81 minutes having been played. V. Birkāns was the replacement. Aizkraukle increased the lead as R. Ziediņš struck to make the score 5 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. R. Torņakalns behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 83 minutes as he gave the ball away to R. Ziediņš. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Zhiperi's J. Vilniņš was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 84 minutes. After 85 minutes, M. Trušulis put Aizkraukle ahead 6 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Confident in their lead, Aizkraukle's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Aizkraukle had most of the ball, with 71 percent of possession.
