13479 spectators had come to
Jēkabpils stadions this cloudy day.
Sven Justesen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rocco Vinterby and
Vadim Khrabrov.
Olins tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
They fielded: Maddens - Hagelen, Laffan, Evensen, Kaparšmits - Kokarevičs, Haggennmiller, Nevit, Amoliņš - Kundziņš, Veidemanis.
Purvinieki decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Krasilshchikov - Lācis, Evelonis, Hauks, Strods - Zustrups, Ciguzis, Abdulganiev, Stalidzāns - Kartels, Vanadziņš.
Olins mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
A. Strods acted foolishly after 2 minutes, giving the ball up to Olins's
U. Amoliņš who had no trouble finding the back of the net. 1 - 0.
The home side's
S. Evensen curled a free kick home after 28 minutes, putting Olins ahead 2 - 0.
The players of Olins now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Olins increased the lead as
Ş. Nevit struck to make the score 3 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
35 minutes into the match Olins's
K. Kokarevičs viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
E. Veidemanis squirmed through their central defence after 38 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Olins scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
E. Veidemanis after 39 minutes.
V. Kartels hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Purvinieki's
A. Hauks an easy chance to knock it in for 5 - 1.
After 43 minutes Olins's
E. Veidemanis had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony.
P. Reuille came in to replace him.
5 - 1 was the halftime score.
Olins had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.
Cheers filled the stadium as
P. Reuille broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 6 - 1 to Olins.
Olins's
Ş. Nevit swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
M. Haggennmiller left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 65 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
O. Khilinskiy was the replacement.
The score became 7 - 1 at 67 minutes into the game, when Olins were given a penalty which
S. Evensen blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
O. Khilinskiy unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
After 73 minutes, Olins's
S. Evensen found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 8 - 1.
That made three goals for
S. Evensen and he was marked down for the hat trick.
The coach of Olins was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 75 minutes,
J. Sālītis came on for
U. Amoliņš.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Olins, with 78 percent of the ball.
Olins's top performer was clearly
U. Kundziņš.
However,
R. Hagelen made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Purvinieki player was without a doubt
R. Stalidzāns.
M. Krasilshchikov turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 8 - 1.
