25-08-2012 12.00
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 27111 had shown up at
Schumacher Arena for the match.
Radu Anca was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sigmar Potsdam and
Andreas Richardsson.
A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Schumacher.
The following players had been chosen: Di Noto - Pasut, Haviland, Costanza, Guarneri, Losco - Mersa, Baldo, Barbaro - Cabriolu, Longinotti.
Pontesuero started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Musayyab - Alexandersson, Wienert, Anastasov - Hills, Piemontese, Arconti, De Rossi, Paneghini - Ulmanen, Ricatti.
Schumacher were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
The terraces were silenced after 28 minutes when Pontesuero's
H. Ulmanen put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right.
The crowd chanted their encouragement as Schumacher's
D. Baldo came in from the right after 31 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1.
S. Paneghini fired a shot from distance after 37 minutes, but the long shot couldn't find the net for Pontesuero.
After 40 minutes, Pontesuero sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
H. Ulmanen, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 2.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2.
Pontesuero enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 72 percent of possession.
With 47 minutes played, Pontesuero's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
H. Ulmanen he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 3.
That made three goals for
H. Ulmanen and he was marked down for the hat trick.
The Pontesuero free kick 55 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
S. Paneghini, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 4!
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Schumacher's
N. Barbaro was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 75 minutes.
M. Rapaić was given a chance to change things around.
After 80 minutes, Schumacher switched
P. Mersa with
S. Kniepändl, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Pontesuero, with 72 percent of the ball.
Schumacher's top performer was clearly
L. Cabriolu.
M. Rapaić on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Pontesuero player was
N. Musayyab.
However,
M. Wienert made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 4.
