28-07-2012 12.00
Due to an all-day shower, 38267 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
ANTITOTO Arena.
Norbert Clémente was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Themis Grafopoulos and
Meng Wei Kiet.
All of
Lombardia was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
ANTITOTO tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
Lineup: Rais - Ivan, Dazzi, Argento, Martorell - Kurzeder, Raed, Moscatello, Iudica, McCann - Heinis.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Atletico.
The following players had been chosen: Peshunov - Brancato, Scasciamacchia - Eriksson, Estébanez Zarzalejos, Issa, Zegarra, Chiariotti - Kryeziu, Frøkjær, Bauchamp.
Atletico used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field.
After 6 minutes, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant.
H. Kurzeder easily put the ball away to give the lead to ANTITOTO. 1 - 0
ANTITOTO's
H. McCann increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 14 minutes.
H. Kurzeder struck a 30 metre free kick home 23 minutes into the match. 3 - 0 for the home team.
ANTITOTO put themselves up 4 - 0 when
G. Moscatello broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Confident in their lead, ANTITOTO's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
It was 4 - 0 at the break.
ANTITOTO claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
C. Zegarra spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch.
Atletico's
Ó. Estébanez Zarzalejos refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 53 minutes.
Atletico's
M. Bauchamp had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 68 minutes having been played.
Y. Kapranos was the replacement.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by ANTITOTO, with 67 percent of the ball.
G. Moscatello performed admirably for ANTITOTO.
I. Ivan turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Atletico player was without a doubt
L. Brancato.
However,
S. Chiariotti made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 4 - 0.
