Dark skies made the crowd of 50002 at
Arena Glaciale a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Alberto Restolho was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Stéphane Thillay and
Hansdieter Elsasser.
Squirrels started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Amico - Scarselletti, Kościuczuk, Piekäinen - Vineta, Giunta, Esperón, Terramoccia, Foster - Buccioli, Toptani.
Percoke had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Starters: Eler - Racioppi, Cavalchi, Di Buono, Evangelisti - Favilla, Coassin, Pilloni, Perona - Rotondo, Federico.
Squirrels's
E. Scarselletti tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
0 - 1 was the score with 6 minutes played, after
G. Di Buono cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Percoke.
The referee showed Squirrels's
D. Toptani the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
Squirrels claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
After 67 minutes,
E. Terramoccia got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away.
The Squirrels players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team.
After 70 minutes, Squirrels used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Squirrels's
H. Vineta was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes.
G. Raveyts was given a chance to change things around.
Percoke's
P. Evangelisti got himself booked for a foul.
G. Coassin of Percoke seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
C. Federico.
A drive down the left side allowed
P. Perona to get in close and score another goal for Percoke after 87 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3.
Confident in their lead, Percoke's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
R. Amico got a fingertip on
A. Racioppi's shot from the left 88 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
Squirrels enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
Squirrels's best player was
D. Toptani.
However,
J. Piekäinen made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Percoke player was without a doubt
C. Federico.
G. Di Buono on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 3.
