20838 spectators arrived at Camp Cucciolo, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Quintin Muschelschubser was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jolan Niclaus and Dimitris Manousaridis. Sordi decided to use a 5-3-2 set up. A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for F.C.. The following players took the field: Bosso - Pilafis, Fontanete, Haastrup - Coscelli, Budniewski, Żelechowski, Lejska - Vieri, Heineken, Roiz.

For their match strategy, Sordi had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. After 8 minutes Sordi tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, R. Chaussinand's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. R. Brecchia of Sordi was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. A penalty was given after 32 minutes, allowing the visitors to gain the lead: 0 - 1. O. Pilafis was the scorer. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave O. Budniewski from F.C. a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 33 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 34 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as H. Heineken finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. 39 minutes into the game, F.C. were awarded a penalty and O. Pilafis was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. After 41 minutes Sordi's H. Simpson contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. F.C. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 79 percent.

After 47 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for H. Lejska who increased F.C.'s lead to 0 - 4. After this, you could see that the players of F.C. were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. The home crowd cheered when, after 52 minutes, V. Roiz's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. F. Vieri sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from O. Pilafis after 75 minutes of play, making the score 0 - 5. V. Roiz came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over A. Segatori but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. After 82 minutes, F.C.'s V. Roiz burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 6. C. Aldini was called on to replace Sordi's M. Capaccioli after 84 minutes following a nasty collision. H. Heineken received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 85 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 7. The F.C. fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. F.C. will have to do without O. Budniewski for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 87 minute mark. He was substituted by G. Serafini. F.C. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 79 percent of possession.

M. Escudeiro performed admirably for Sordi. A. Segatori on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important F.C. player was V. Roiz. J. Haastrup was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 7.
