Aimila 2 - 2 Lauretana (381673708)

Dark skies made the crowd of 29793 at Miaostadium a little nervous, but the rain held off. Guido Galfrè was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Khaleel Iqbal and Enrique Llácer. A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Aimila. They fielded: Alocci - Sodini, Radwan, Anemoyiannis, Orrico, Adrianopoli - Keronen, Bellec, Bulzomi - Dorotík, Gajowiec.

Lauretana tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. Starters: Isaraj - Bonfrate, van der Struijk - Lobo, Marra, Forra, Reale, Grosso - Nerla, Ceschina, Scarsoglio.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Aimila. A free kick aimed at the keeper's far post almost gave Lauretana the lead 2 minutes in, but the ball just wasn't able to squirm its way through the defensive wall. Aimila had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 3 minutes, but B. Sodini's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 8 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from K. Keronen, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. 39 minutes into the game B. Sodini could see that the opposing goalie was out of position and tried an unexpected lob that the keeper just barely reached. The rebound went to A. Gajowiec who failed to hit the target. With 40 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after C. Nerla came through the middle, but his kick went wide. Lauretana's S. Ceschina got himself booked for a foul. M. Radwan was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Aimila's R. Biondo had to come off the bench. 43 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 1 - 1 as G. Grosso struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right. After 44 minutes, Lauretana's C. Nerla made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2. Lauretana had to make a substitution after 44 minutes. J. Forra limped off the field and was replaced by G. Maione. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Lauretana enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

Lauretana came close to extending their lead as L. Scarsoglio delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 49 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. A. Gajowiec made a superb strike after 67 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. 78 minutes into the game, A. Gajowiec had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came G. Comito. With the scoreboard showing that 81 minutes had been played, Lauretana nearly put themselves up another goal after C. Nerla came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Aimila caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 82 minutes into the match. G. Comito was able to finish off the move - 2 - 2. R. Alocci looked great 84 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' C. Nerla. Possession in this half belonged to Lauretana, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

Aimila's best player was K. Dorotík. G. Comito was a disappointment, however. L. Scarsoglio performed admirably for Lauretana. However, G. Maione made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 2.
