Aimila 1 - 3 Cognola (381673715)

Due to an all-day shower, 26987 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Miaostadium. Martin Horvath was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kalle Strandberg and Luca Ternullo. Aimila decided to use a 5-4-1 set up. They fielded: Alocci - Sodini, Radwan, Orrico, Anemoyiannis, Rurarz - Keronen, Gasparri, Bellec, Bulzomi - Dorotík.

Cognola started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. The following players took the field: Molema - Rakdetch, Trabold - Hospodka, Staricco, Golino, Ardatazzi, Fariñas - Mauriello, Barbier, Peschka.

Some things can only be learned through experience, and M. Radwan should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Cognola a goal with 10 minutes of the match played. Making his way up the middle 14 minutes into the match, M. Orrico almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert L. Molema blocked it to keep the score level. Cognola's N. Ardatazzi was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 18 minutes. 23 minutes into the game, S. Barbier was a hair's breadth away from giving Cognola the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by R. Alocci saved the home team that time. With 25 minutes played, G. Trabold of Cognola fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. K. Keronen did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. S. Barbier was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. After 35 minutes, Cognola's R. Mauriello made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. Aimila's G. Gasparri made an attempt at equalising 36 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Aimila enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

The home crowd was not impressed when S. Barbier came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 47 minutes. Cognola were now up 0 - 2. Aimila reduced the lead to 1 - 2 with 60 minutes on the clock when K. Anemoyiannis got the best of a ball floated in from the left. Aimila's M. Radwan put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 62 minutes, but the ball went wide. S. Barbier of Cognola took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 64 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 3. By now, the players in Cognola felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. K. Dorotík did everything he could to get one back for his Aimila, but keeper L. Molema denied him with a spectacular block. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Fariñas from Cognola a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 73 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from L. Hospodka after 76 minutes, and prevented Cognola from going up another goal. Aimila had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

Most important Aimila player was K. Dorotík. K. Keronen was a disappointment, however. G. Peschka performed admirably for Cognola. However, L. Molema made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 3.
