previous 4/10 next 6/10  CDEVEN 2 - 6 Pipperos (381675142)

Due to an all-day shower, 24255 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at STAR Stadium. Lucian Zidaru was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Dominik Amerhauser and David Renedo. CDEVEN decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. They fielded: Loiseau - Toro Díaz, Novotný, Cerha - Suvimäki, Al-Hussain, Klausen, Küssenberger - Liborio, Moscatello, Charczuk.

Pipperos had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Starters: Garnier - Mazzara, Arslaner, Giganti - Pacewicz, Teofilo, Granitsas, Carrozzo - Edmond, Ustara, Caplan.

T. Charczuk slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. Making his way up the middle 27 minutes into the match, S. Cerha almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert N. Garnier blocked it to keep the score level. CDEVEN were very close to putting themselves one up after 37 minutes as O. Suvimäki got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. After 39 minutes, Pipperos's M. Caplan made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. E. Moscatello made a superb strike after 40 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. 41 minutes in, CDEVEN's O. Suvimäki received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Pipperos were forced into a substitution as F. Carrozzo couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing P. Conforti to come in off the bench. CDEVEN tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play. M. Caplan of Pipperos took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 43 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2. The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit O. Suvimäki just fine. CDEVEN's L. Liborio found himself alone on the left side 44 minutes into the match and laid down a perfect shot - right into the arms of the keeper! It was 0 - 2 at the break. CDEVEN had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

A well placed corner kick from G. Giganti was followed by G. Teofilo's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Pipperos, the score now 0 - 3. Confident in their lead, Pipperos's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Pipperos increased their lead after 51 minutes when P. Arslaner broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. CDEVEN's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 58 minutes into the match as E. Moscatello ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 4. O. Edmond received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 59 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 5. The Pipperos fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. With 60 minutes played, S. Cerha was very close to reducing the score for CDEVEN with a low drive from the left, but a defender stuck his foot out just in the nick of time, blocking the shot to a corner. CDEVEN refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle, T. Charczuk managed to slip the ball home for 2 - 5. After 62 minutes, Pipperos's G. Giganti burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 2 - 6. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by CDEVEN, with 53 percent of the ball.

L. Liborio performed admirably for CDEVEN. M. Novotný on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Pipperos player was without a doubt M. Caplan. However, N. Garnier made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 6.
