34869 fans braved the pouring rain at
Enel Colosseum.
Sylwester Goś was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ippolito Claps and
Fabian Helleman.
Enel started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Starters: Guilleux - Linetti, Ihbe, Velloso, Casino - Siclari, Pascale, Corigliano, Scholtzhauer - Spolitu, Funke.
FFLV had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Pellegrino - Trivellin, Malmsheim, Borriello, Gaetano - Morais, Conterio, De Biasi, Oberger - Michelotti, La Ratta.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of FFLV.
FFLV almost scored after a counterattack 5 minutes into the match, but
C. Michelotti took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net.
Enel's
T. Funke was shown a yellow card after 14 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Y. Scholtzhauer neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to
P. Siclari who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post.
Slack defending gave Enel a chance to take the lead with 21 minutes played, but
P. Siclari's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
Making his way up the middle 29 minutes into the match,
T. Funke almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
R. Pellegrino blocked it to keep the score level.
FFLV showed their counterattack skill 32 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with
S. La Ratta scoring uncontested for 0 - 1.
After 33 minutes,
M. Pascale made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1.
1 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to Enel, who controlled the ball 80 percent of the time.
With 79 minutes played
A. Corigliano almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
Some great play up the middle by Enel led to a chance for
Y. Scholtzhauer to score after 80 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
R. Borriello spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch.
Enel took the lead 84 minutes in, as
Y. Scholtzhauer broke through on the left and put the 2 - 1 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Enel's
P. Ihbe increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 85 minutes.
The bench was restless, and with 85 minutes passed FFLV's coach gave
I. Vanbastenko the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
A. Morais reluctantly left the field.
By now, the players in Enel felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Enel enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 81 percent of possession.
The most dominating Enel player was without a doubt
Y. Scholtzhauer.
On the other hand,
S. Casino's play was disheartening.
FFLV's best player was
I. Vanbastenko.
P. De Biasi on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 1.
