previous 5/10 next 7/10  Jyggon 5 - 1 Forlimpopoli (381678071)

41780 spectators had found their way to The Jyggon Dome, despite the heavy rain. Henning Andernach was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Boguslav Snytko and Pekka Vakkuri. Jyggon had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Lunardi - Debye, Siebel, Chervenkov - Taborda, Gambogi, Kristiansen, Festa, Cvijetić - Scalas, Nichtovios.

Forlimpopoli tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Molski - Metta, Matócsi, Pasos - Locati, Carboneres, Costes, Wilken, Lesignoli - Scaramella, Apostolo.

Forlimpopoli clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. E. Cvijetić sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from L. Kristiansen after 23 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 0. M. Taborda had a fantastic opportunity to put Jyggon up another goal 36 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. It was a bad day for the usually speedy A. Nichtovios. The mud seemed to slow him down. Forlimpopoli tied it all up, 40 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by Z. Matócsi, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 1 - 1. After 41 minutes, A. Nichtovios came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Jyggon the lead. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, G. Locati got himself booked. The manager of Forlimpopoli was not happy. The home side's A. Nichtovios came close to extending the lead 44 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but P. Molski managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Jyggon had to make a substitution after 44 minutes. T. Chervenkov limped off the field and was replaced by K. Miles. With 44 minutes played, E. Cvijetić could have brought this one home for Jyggon as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Jyggon had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

With 54 minutes played, Jyggon's E. Scalas almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. H. Wilken was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. With 62 minutes played, Jyggon's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to E. Scalas he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 3 - 1. Cheers filled the stadium as L. Kristiansen broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 1 to Jyggon. Forlimpopoli needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes L. Scaramella made way for B. Carocci. The referee showed Forlimpopoli's B. Carocci the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. W. Siebel was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Jyggon's T. Hodne had to come off the bench. 79 minutes into the match L. Kristiansen put Jyggon ahead 5 - 1 with a truly marvelous free kick. The players of Jyggon now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. A. Costes could've grabbed a goal for Forlimpopoli 81 minutes in when he got a pass from the left putting him free of the home side's defence, but he was unable to take advantage of the situation. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Jyggon, with 56 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Jyggon player was without a doubt A. Nichtovios. E. Cvijetić turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Forlimpopoli player was G. Apostolo. G. Locati was a disappointment, however. The match ends 5 - 1.
