previous 7/10 next 9/10  Casaliculum 0 - 0 SanMarzano (381681571)

37586 spectators arrived at Tripoli, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. José María Aragó was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Matteo Spadotto and Jozias Aldewereld. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Casaliculum. The following players took the field: Samper - Lénárt, Durso, Faugeras, Tse Xin - Caravallos, Nicoletti, Marcon, Fors - Fritz, Pietrucci.

SanMarzano had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Organdziev - Al-Sharif, Di Girolamo, Ortiz - Öhlind, Falger, Ocon, Launay - Andidero, Plotzitzka, Neumann-Altendorf.

The strategy for SanMarzano was to use their ability to press. Casaliculum had to make a substitution after 5 minutes. P. Nicoletti limped off the field and was replaced by W. Ringstead. SanMarzano pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. Slack defending gave Casaliculum a chance to take the lead with 25 minutes played, but T. Lénárt's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. Making his way up the middle 26 minutes into the match, J. Fritz almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert G. Organdziev blocked it to keep the score level. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Casaliculum had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.

58 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a SanMarzano substitution. T. Bang came on for P. Ocon. C. Plotzitzka would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. S. Luzzi entered the game for SanMarzano as the match clock showed 65 minutes. After 77 minutes, the SanMarzano coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving E. Neumann-Altendorf off the field. B. van Dal took his place. 84 minutes into the game, K. Fors had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came G. Cassarà. SanMarzano's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. Casaliculum had a good opportunity to take the lead as W. Ringstead came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of G. Organdziev. Casaliculum's G. Pietrucci tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Casaliculum claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.

Most important Casaliculum player was G. Caravallos. On the other hand, G. Cassarà's play was disheartening. The most dominating SanMarzano player was without a doubt G. Di Girolamo. T. Öhlind turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 0.
