28267 spectators had found their way to
Tana dei Mori, despite the heavy rain.
Jakob Tellflod was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Boris Crumpton and
Casper Thomsen.
Kasteddu decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
The following players had been chosen: De Mey - Rusek, Toffan - Četojević, Kramper, Gkazidis, Rubeo, Cusimano - Emet, Antoldi, Cappelletto.
Listerine had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Lineup: Takács - Aukselis, Iltanen, Callejon - Rusconi, Biquet, Bud, Reitmaier, Birkeland - Angelov, van Aalen.
Kasteddu seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
After 5 minutes, Listerine put themselves up 0 - 1, as
C. Biquet finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
Listerine's
K. Takács left the field after 8 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
G. Frenquelli.
Kasteddu's
G. Cappelletto put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 1 - 1 with 22 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
M. Bud got himself booked. The manager of Listerine was not happy.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
O. Rusek, but the Kasteddu player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1!
2 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Kasteddu enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
After 50 minutes, Listerine switched
G. Rusconi with
H. Hörnhall, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
Z. Gkazidis spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch.
M. Bud remonstrated furiously with the referee after Listerine had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch.
The Kasteddu players could smell victory in the air.
F. Toffan wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
K. Landheer after 60 minutes.
D. Antoldi acted with superior experience when, 60 minutes into the match, he predicted a pass, intercepted it and then finished off with a goal. 3 - 1 for Kasteddu!
After 68 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
M. Emet gave the Kasteddu supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1.
By now, the players in Kasteddu felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Kasteddu were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
G. Cappelletto squirmed through their central defence after 76 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 1.
The Listerine players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team.
Kasteddu's
P. Rubeo swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
Possession in this half belonged to Kasteddu, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.
Most important Kasteddu player was
Z. Gkazidis.
I. Četojević on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating Listerine player was without a doubt
V. Angelov.
G. Frenquelli turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 5 - 1.
