Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 37000 at
Erba Rossa today.
Roderik Heersema was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jesper Rommedahl and
Richard Weinberger.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
Milano derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
Sesto had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
Lineup: Boni - Lodadio, Oggiano, Solís - Mauceri, Leopardi, Tellflod, Capomagi - Wetzl, Dedeyne, Govi.
A.C.Dentez decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
Starters: Macrì - Buccisano, Cortelazzo - Basili, Lampo, Maddii, Cerone, Sini - Schiavio, Battisti, Dalai.
Today, Sesto's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
Sesto took the lead after 3 minutes as a result of
V. Capomagi's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Sesto scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
L. Oggiano after 15 minutes.
Sesto were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
With 20 minutes played, Sesto put themselves up 3 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
G. Govi, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
The players of Sesto now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
A.C.Dentez were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 21 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to
E. Cerone, who smashed it home to make the score 3 - 1.
3 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Sesto enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
V. Capomagi's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
G. Govi was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Sesto. 4 - 1.
Sesto managed to extend their lead to 5 - 1 when
V. Capomagi cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their
A. Schiavio reduced the lead to make it 5 - 2 after 59 minutes, following a pass from the right.
A bit later, A.C.Dentez's
A. Schiavio easily reduced the lead to 5 - 3 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence.
A.C.Dentez's
G. Cortelazzo was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 82 minutes.
Sesto had to make a substitution after 85 minutes.
G. Govi limped off the field and was replaced by
M. Capolupo.
Possession in this half belonged to Sesto, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
V. Capomagi performed admirably for Sesto.
M. Boni turned in a dismal performance, however.
A.C.Dentez's best player was
G. Battisti.
On the other hand,
F. Maddii's play was disheartening.
The match ends 5 - 3.
