(381698850)

28-07-2012 12.00
Dark skies made the crowd of 31200 at
Arena dei Campioni a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Matti Loidelsbacher was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Willi Pflieger and
Hein-Dirk Ebertz.
Giovinho had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Małolepszy - Luongo, Tiribocchi, Cagliostro - Grosso, Jolić, Rossel, Sardinha, Uricchio - Leclair, Badot.
Dondix started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Canöz - Voltolini, Sieroń, Pochat - Dall'Oglio, Magatti, Antón, Cüret, Fiedoruk - Varupa, Grazioli.
Giovinho's
J. Badot showed his experience, anticipating the outcome of the opponent's defensive clearance and positioning himself perfectly to volley in an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box. 1 - 0.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Giovinho scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
L. Rossel after 18 minutes.
E. Canöz was caught napping as
J. Leclair lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms.
After 31 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
R. Sardinha gave the Giovinho supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0.
Confident in their lead, Giovinho's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
E. Fiedoruk from Dondix a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 33 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Unfortunately for Giovinho,
R. Sardinha was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
C. De Juliis replaced him.
C. De Juliis could have increased the lead after 35 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0.
Giovinho had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.
Giovinho's
J. Grosso left the field after 65 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
V. Sarchiapelli.
J. Leclair became the new Giovinho captain.
A great save by keeper
E. Canöz after 70 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
S. Uricchio struck from the left with a real cannonball.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 86 minutes, Giovinho did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
M. Luongo was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 4 - 0.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Giovinho's
L. Rossel increasing the lead to 5 - 0.
Giovinho's
V. Sarchiapelli saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 87 minutes.
Possession in this half belonged to Giovinho, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.
The most dominating Giovinho player was without a doubt
L. Rossel.
V. Sarchiapelli turned in a dismal performance, however.
Dondix's top performer was clearly
W. Grazioli.
However,
E. Canöz made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 5 - 0.
