The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Di Vaio from ZIZZOLA a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 29 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! In a fantastic display of determination, Real's U. Ludescher forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. The referee showed ZIZZOLA's M. Caddi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The player down was F. Moulai. The Real bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. With 38 minutes played, C. Həsənov could have brought this one home for ZIZZOLA as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. 41 minutes into the game, Real seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. With 42 minutes played, ZIZZOLA's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to C. Həsənov he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 2 - 0. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. ZIZZOLA enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Real was able to get his message across, and raised Real's organisation to solid. 55 minutes into the game, Real had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. Doerr unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
