previous 6/10 next 8/10  RioneMonti 3 - 1 River Ale (381726518)

29117 spectators had come to Monticiana Arena this cloudy day. Jonas Herndon was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ivari Külaots and Iacob Costache. RioneMonti decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Koltsov - Bidoia, Villouta, Martinez - Marruocco, Civa, Ronfolaturro, Telek, Villar - Mak, Stojaković.

River Ale had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players took the field: Depauw - Gripenberg, Fatih, Criscuolo - Scorza, Rousset, Lantos, Brunner - Välkkynen, Willem, Borges Carvalho.

After 16 minutes River Ale's J. Välkkynen limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. With 26 minutes played N. Telek almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. The corner kick from N. Stojaković was powerfully met by the head of M. Bidoia to make the score 1 - 0. After 28 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by River Ale was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. The home team will be cursing R. Willem for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem. The match was level at 1 - 1 after 33 minutes. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.

The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to N. Stojaković, but the RioneMonti player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! 56 minutes into the match River Ale's P. Scorza viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. 67 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as P. Mak broke through, making the score 3 - 1 for RioneMonti. The bench was restless, and with 75 minutes passed River Ale's coach gave A. Quattrucci the opportunity the player had been hoping for. R. Willem reluctantly left the field. River Ale needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 80 minutes Q. Rousset made way for K. Regev. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by RioneMonti, with 53 percent of the ball.

RioneMonti's top performer was clearly N. Stojaković. M. Bidoia on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating River Ale player was without a doubt A. Lantos. On the other hand, J. Välkkynen's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 1.
