previous 10/10 next 2/10  Othoca 2 - 0 Germain (381732730)

Dark skies made the crowd of 32000 at Tharros Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Ede Kortenhof was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rodrigue 'Dauerbrenner' Santos and Friedrich Schäfer. Othoca had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Starters: Graudītis - Zepponi, van der Sluis, Kruger, Aufdenblatten - Harašta, Degenaars, Ionită, Tettamanzi - Hemmes, Tonzar.

Germain decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Ra'ashan - Di Paola, Gülsim, Schweren - Phúc Yến, Hirviniemi, Pompole, Tilli, Fèvre - Hungría, Nebuda.

Othoca tried to focus their attacks down the middle. Othoca's A. Tonzar left the field after 15 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was E. Bond. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, E. Bond scored for Othoca putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 22 minutes. The referee showed Othoca's E. Bond the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. An equalising goal seemed certain after 24 minutes when L. Nebuda attacked down the left wing, but I. Graudītis just managed to make a save to keep the ball out of the net. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Othoca claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Coming through the middle O. Tilli almost scored the equaliser for Germain after 49 minutes, but I. Graudītis made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. With 54 minutes played, Othoca's E. Bond almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Othoca's N. Ionită was shown a yellow card after 62 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Germain's P. Phúc Yến went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. F. Zepponi could have increased the lead after 64 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Othoca scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for N. Ionită after 65 minutes. S. Degenaars left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. J. Płoszaj was the replacement. In an effort to secure the lead, Othoca changed their tactic after 71 minutes. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.

Othoca's best player was J. Hemmes. G. Kruger turned in a dismal performance, however. Germain's top performer was clearly M. Hungría. C. Ra'ashan was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
