previous 3/10 next 5/10  Carrozzeria 2 - 1 spezzo (381742824)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Brofferio's Arena saw a crowd turnout of 39055. Kim Sønderskov was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bruno Pronk and Vidar Grøtterud. Carrozzeria tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Lindelof - Buroň, Nisci, Zuffi - Reineke, Claesson, Janák, Coba, Golovko - Algoet, Čohilj.

spezzo had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Heldreich - Ponticelli, Polenghi, Zimoch - Kinder, Mantenuto, Menghini, Prencipe, Albertazzi - Varotto, Brea.

The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when A. Brea was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 5 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! 20 minutes into the game, a swerving free kick by O. Coba almost resulted in the home team taking the lead, but the shot glanced harmlessly off the frame of the goal. 27 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but A. Brea, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. They were singing the praises of D. Čohilj 30 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Carrozzeria. 40 minutes in, spezzo's K. Zimoch received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Carrozzeria enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

The home crowd was dismayed when the referee called a penalty for spezzo after 49 minutes. K. Zimoch calmly took the shot and scored. The game was level at 1 - 1. Carrozzeria took the lead after 67 minutes as a result of D. Čohilj's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1. Coming through the middle E. Mantenuto almost scored the equaliser for spezzo after 76 minutes, but J. Lindelof made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. The referee showed spezzo's F. Prencipe the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. F. Prencipe made a good effort at breaking through on the right, but the home team's left defence cleared the ball to a corner. Possession in this half belonged to spezzo, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

O. Coba performed admirably for Carrozzeria. L. Buroň was a disappointment, however. spezzo's top performer was clearly J. Varotto. On the other hand, P. Heldreich's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
