The 26040 spectators at
Tartaro were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Augustin Talaš was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Håkon Lien and
Petr Pavel Schwarz.
Zamonia tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Klimczok - Trusiński, Tzvetkov, Sabre - Buzenkov, Viitaniemi, Fragkopoulos, Wallin, Alberani - Merino Pérez, Nobles.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Warriors.
The following players took the field: Schultes - Ryng, Gallardo - Wallach, Fell, Regidor Reyes, De la Fuente, Merenda - Buffo, Martins, Lücks.
Warriors clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
That Warriors's
F. Regidor Reyes has the ability of doing what no one expects him to do was shown as he ran over an opposing defender, snatched the ball and passed to
C. Lücks who hit it hard into the wide open goal after 22 minutes: 0 - 1!
After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 24 minutes into the match, an alert
F. Merino Pérez bagged the ball for Zamonia, levelling the score to 1 - 1.
Zamonia were very close to putting themselves one up after 33 minutes as
O. Buzenkov got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
Some great play up the middle by Zamonia led to a chance for
D. Nobles to score after 36 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
At 38 minutes played,
F. Merino Pérez came in from the right with the intention of giving Zamonia the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Zamonia had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
After 48 minutes, following yet another great corner,
P. De la Fuente's flick on at the near post reached
S. Merenda, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
P. Sabre scored for Zamonia putting them ahead 2 - 1, after 54 minutes.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Zamonia coach let
B. Przestrzelski replace
M. Fragkopoulos after 56 minutes.
The referee showed Warriors's
A. Gallardo the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
72 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
F. Merino Pérez broke through, making the score 3 - 1 for Zamonia.
Zamonia's
B. Przestrzelski increased the lead to 4 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 73 minutes.
Confident in their lead, Zamonia's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Possession in this half belonged to Zamonia, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
The most dominating Zamonia player was without a doubt
D. Nobles.
E. Klimczok on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Warriors's top performer was clearly
C. Lücks.
On the other hand,
A. Buffo's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 1.
