U.S. 5 - 1 Aureliana
(381759886)

14-07-2012 12.30
19667 spectators had come to
Armageddon Arena this cloudy day.
Herbert Kalmo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Igor Basarić and
Ragnar Vaher.
U.S. started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Bziukiewicz - Palujanskas, Zakar, Ciscar - Brodu, Gutiérrez, Antonkiewicz, Gayones, Impellizzeri - Privitera, Arcuri.
Aureliana had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Perrot - Gebler, Nechita, Fortunato - Leonetti, Zamperoni, Elbirlik, Pallone, Murillo - Sillanpää, Akalın.
It was an obvious ambition of Aureliana to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
At 6 minutes played,
J. Ciscar came in from the right with the intention of giving U.S. the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
U.S. had a good opportunity to take the lead as
F. Antonkiewicz came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
L. Perrot.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Pallone from Aureliana a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 21 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
P. Privitera's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 30 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to
B. Arcuri who knocked it in for U.S.. 1 - 0!
With 33 minutes played, U.S. put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
S. Palujanskas, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
M. Gutiérrez increased the lead for U.S. to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
By now, the players in U.S. felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
After 43 minutes,
A. Pallone sent the corner kick right to
L. Gebler who headed it sharply past the keeper. 3 - 1!
Halftime score was 3 - 1.
U.S. had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
M. Gutiérrez unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
68 minutes into the match Aureliana's
L. Gebler viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card.
The bench was restless, and with 70 minutes passed Aureliana's coach gave
B. Jámbor the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
T. Akalın reluctantly left the field.
U.S. increased the lead as
F. Brodu struck to make the score 4 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
With 75 minutes played, the Aureliana coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
N. Simonuti came on,
J. Murillo had to leave the fray.
B. Arcuri had a fantastic opportunity to put U.S. up another goal 76 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of U.S. to 5 - 1 as
E. Zakar finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
U.S. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Most important U.S. player was
B. Arcuri.
S. Palujanskas on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Aureliana's top performer was clearly
A. Pallone.
N. Simonuti was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 5 - 1.
