30-06-2012 12.30
29168 punters turned up at
Wing 1961 Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Emir Cengaver was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tommaso Floris and
Thord Pilmo.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Wing.
Lineup: Noer Mogensen - Hau Lieu, Dodard, Grecu, Lerby - Ringelnatz, Ghersi, Blanchard, Thiede - Storani, Zenoni.
Didascalici started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Khawalani - Trytko, Tardin, Fernández - Abts, Montoro, Diaz, Hanakou, Barcelona - Pisaneschi, Brambati.
Wing created a good opportunity to score 23 minutes into the match when
F. Ringelnatz's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
Wing had a good opportunity to take the lead as
J. Ghersi came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
N. Khawalani.
After 36 minutes Wing's
K. Hau Lieu limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
They were singing the praises of
F. Storani 39 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Wing.
40 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
T. Blanchard broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Wing.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0.
Wing claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Wing's
J. Dodard increasing the lead to 3 - 0.
Didascalici certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but
A. Fernández just wasn't able to finish.
Wing's
F. Storani was shown a yellow card after 72 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Ater 74 minutes
F. Pisaneschi seized on an opportunistic attack from the right, and scored for Didascalici making it 3 - 1.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
W. Thiede squirmed through their central defence after 77 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 1.
By now, the players in Wing felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Wing, with 59 percent of the ball.
Wing's top performer was clearly
F. Storani.
W. Thiede turned in a dismal performance, however.
Didascalici's best player was
E. Brambati.
However,
N. Khawalani made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 4 - 1.
