previous 3/10 next 5/10  Flynet 2 - 0 Nicotinaikos (381785488)

20330 spectators had come to Desy Arena this cloudy day. Roar Eilertsen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fernando Atom and Roland Siedling. All of Lombardia was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. Flynet tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Nymann - Öhler, Ozols, Ruokolainen - Samprati, Terp, Scheweck, Decamps, Ledenev - Latchimy, Hanzuš.

Nicotinaikos had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Lineup: Gruza - Safrana, Narchuk, Ortiz - Christiansen, van Roon, Magnusson, Wörns - Žalac, Pushka, Pérez.

After 14 minutes of play, M. Hanzuš gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Flynet put in a good effort on the right, but A. Samprati saw his volley fly wide of the mark 35 minutes into the game. After 36 minutes Flynet's A. Samprati had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. W. Davidson came in to replace him. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Flynet claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

With 48 minutes played, J. Decamps could have brought this one home for Flynet as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. B. Ledenev should probably have put his team up another goal after 50 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by R. Gruza kept the visitors in the game. Flynet's F. Ozols struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 2 - 0 after 57 minutes. By now, the players in Flynet felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Flynet coach let P. Månsson replace M. Hanzuš after 70 minutes. M. Terp left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. G. Socaciu was the replacement. Flynet's E. Latchimy was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 72 minutes. Flynet had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

The most dominating Flynet player was without a doubt T. Scheweck. On the other hand, W. Davidson's play was disheartening. Nicotinaikos's best player was B. Pushka. A. Narchuk turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
