27659 spectators had come to
Alcoholic Arena this cloudy day.
Balázs Bláthy was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tomas Ecklius and
Rolf Froumajoux.
Alcoholic started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Rackham - Ferguson, Prgeša, Kostohryz - Guidinger, Swinkels, Scanu, Madon, Flaugnacco - Salone, Vravník.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Rocchese.
They fielded: Nicolay - Collaço, Devizzi, Henault - Amora, Baicu, Künzer, Prim - Perry, Pantić, Notarangelo.
Many thought
S. Flaugnacco ought to have been awarded a penalty 19 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
W. Nicolay after a determined run through the middle.
Alcoholic fans held their breath as
L. Madon scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Alcoholic scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
D. Vravník after 40 minutes.
It was 2 - 0 at the break.
Alcoholic claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Alcoholic to 3 - 0 as
D. Vravník finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
By now, the players in Alcoholic felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
L. Madon left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 60 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
M. Vasi was the replacement.
Rocchese reduced the deficit to 3 - 1 with a penalty placed perfectly beside the left post by
J. Amora.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Alcoholic coach let
D. Cañaveral replace
D. Vravník after 70 minutes.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
G. Guidinger from Alcoholic a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 76 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 77 minutes, Alcoholic did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
S. Flaugnacco was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 4 - 1.
Alcoholic's
D. Cañaveral had an excellent opportunity after 78 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
There was concern in the stands when, at the 81 minute mark, Alcoholic's
D. Cañaveral hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
84 minutes into the match,
G. Salone could have extended the lead, but his powerful free kick went just over the bar.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Alcoholic, with 67 percent of the ball.
Most important Alcoholic player was
G. Salone.
R. Kostohryz was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Rocchese player was without a doubt
P. Notarangelo.
C. Prim turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
